Data science describes the art of extracting insights from data and improves decision-making and
boosts product development. Because of the benefits that data science brings to corporations,
financial institutions, and startups, it is one of the most prized skillsets today.
The Robert Day Scholars Program and Cognitir , a global training company, are organizing a one-day
course on 9 September 2017 to teach the essentials of data science with the Python programming
language. The company led a successful data science seminar at Claremont McKenna a year ago and is
very excited to be invited back! The company has also led training at other top schools including: MIT,
UPenn, University of Chicago, Columbia University, Northwestern University, USC, UCLA, London
Business School, and NYU.
By the end of this introductory course , participants will have used the Python programming language
to analyze real-world data sets, draw meaningful conclusions from the data, and present their results in a
clear and persuasive manner.
Please note that completion of units 1-8 of the free Python course available on Codeacademy.com or an
equivalent introductory Python course is required before attending the workshop.
